Submersible and vertical slurry pumps are two commonly used types of slurry pumps in the mining industry, used to transport abrasive and corrosive mud. How to choose a suitable mud pump for mining projects?
1. What is a submersible slurry pump?
ZJQ submersible slurry pump is a unique double bladed structure where the motor and pump are coaxially immersed in the medium. In addition to the main impeller, there is also a stirring impeller at the bottom, which can stir the sediment deposited at the bottom into turbulent flow and extract it. Suitable for diving operations in mining environments, transporting sludge, sand and gravel containing large solid particles, and other media.
2. What is a vertical slurry pump?
ZP (R) vertical slurry pump, submerged in liquid, vertical cantilever single pump shell structure, semi open impeller. It can work without any shaft seal or shaft seal water, even in the case of insufficient suction volume. Mainly used for transporting liquids containing suspended solids, especially suitable for mineral mining, ore preparation, and tailings management.
3.Difference between vertical slurry pump and submersible slurry pump
1. The vertical slurry pump is partially immersed in the pit and cannot be fully immersed in the liquid surface, while the submersible slurry pump can be fully immersed (including the motor part) below the liquid surface, depending on its position during operation;
2. The motor of the vertical slurry pump can be a regular vertical motor without waterproofing, while the motor shaft of the submersible slurry pump is coaxial with the pump shaft, and the motor must be waterproofed and sealed. The motor and pump can be immersed in the liquid at the same time;
3. Vertical slurry pumps require fixed installation during use, while submersible slurry pumps do not require it and can be directly immersed for use
Submersible and vertical mud pumps play a crucial role in handling mud in mining projects. Although they share similarities in raw materials and functionality, their differences lie in structure, efficiency, application, maintenance, and cost. When choosing between the two, it is crucial to consider the specific requirements and conditions of the mining project. Consulting with mud pump manufacturers or mining equipment experts can help you determine the most suitable option for your application.
